A Man for All Corners

I came across this guy while I was in San Diego. He was about 5’9, 70-ish, had the sort of paunch that suggested muscle gone to fat rather than just fat, wore a baseball cap (of course) and a thick white moustache. I have no idea if he was bald because of the cap. His complexion was a little florid. The first time I saw him was when I was on the World War II aircraft carrier, the Midway, which is now a museum. Then I saw him up in the mountains to the east of the city near the little town of Julian. Then I saw him a strip mall, in Wall-Mart, in a parking lot, in another strip mall – then at every turn.  He wasn’t so much ubiquitous (that takes two)  - as multiplied. Who was he? I have decided that because of the large naval base in San Diego, this man once worked there, regrets having had to retire so now puts on the retirement uniform.
